As we have witnessed over the last month, plans are changing daily (and sometimes hourly) when it comes to details regarding the COVID-19 virus. Most recently, Governor Whitmer has extended the 'Stay Home Stay Safe' order until May 15th, while also relaxing some of the guidelines within that order.
While the 'Stay Home Stay Safe' order is tentatively set to lift on the 15th, at this time D&W Salvage does NOT have plans to open to customer traffic immediately following the change in the executive order.
Instead, we must wait until the various mills and foundries that we supply are once again purchasing material. The process of re-opening a mill and/or foundry can be very long and involved, and we have no concrete information as to when they will reach out to us requesting material---at this point, our best guess is that it may not be until early to mid-June at the very earliest.
We understand that you've all had time to clean up your yard/farm/shed during the 'Stay Home' order, and we apologize for the inconvenience this delay is causing all of you--especially to those of you who are looking to sell your scrap for some extra income. Unfortunately, the economy has suffered greatly due to the COVID-19 virus, and the 'world of scrap metal' is no exception.
Rest assured that we DO have plans to re-open as soon as the mills and foundries open and the scrap market conditions allow. We intend to provide updates via our website and Facebook as soon as we know more regarding this matter, so please check back from time-to-time for the latest updates.
So to re-cap:
D&W Salvage is still NOT currently accepting material at this time.
We must wait to open until the mills and foundries we supply: 1) re-open and 2) begin requesting material.
At this time, early to mid-June is our best guess as to when we may begin receiving material again.
Those dates are just an estimate, as we have no concrete answers from any mills and foundries at this time.
We will keep all of our customers informed via our website and Facebook as soon as we know more.
In the meantime, we all just have to be patient, do what we can, and take one day at a time.
Thank You,
D&W Salvage, Inc.
