Operating in a Limited Capacity

In the last 24 hours, the governor of Michigan has issued a "stay at home" order for public health and safety. Essential businesses are exempt from this order, including grocery stores, hospitals, and the steel mills we supply.

As a distributor of goods and services to the critical steel mill industry, D&W Salvage, Inc. is able to remain open in a reduced capacity. Therefore, we will operate during our normal business hours of 8am-4:30pm Monday-Friday, however, there will be some changes to how we handle inbound traffic.

Effective immediately, we are implementing the following changes to our daily inbound operations:

  • We are only accepting LARGE loads of STEEL at this time. This means trailers, dump trucks, and semi-trucks full of steel. Any loads the size of a pick-up bed and smaller will not be accepted.

  • The Metals Shop is CLOSED, except to LARGE loads of copper, aluminum, brass, etc. Even so, any large loads of non-ferrous material will be handled on a case-by-case basis. This is being done to ensure that our local commercial and industrial accounts can still be serviced, as needed.

  • Customers will only be allowed in our facility ONE AT A TIME.

  • Please pull up to the STOP SIGN and wait patiently upon your arrival. Someone from our staff will be with you shortly to inspect your load, and give you further instructions.

  • STAY in your vehicle. The only exception to this may be when you are removing straps/tarps and unloading your steel in our scrap piles.

  • Please only ONE PERSON per vehicle. This means just the driver of the vehicle only.

  • DO NOT ENTER any of our buildings. We will bring your weight slip and check to you at the end of your visit.

  • Keep a DISTANCE of at least 6 feet between yourself and our employees at all times.

  • STAY HOME IF YOU ARE ILL or experiencing any symptoms like fever, coughing, sneezing, or difficulty breathing.

To ensure the safety of everyone during these challenging times, the above will be strongly enforced.

Because we value the safety of our employees, customers, business partners, and their families, we will continue following the guidelines set forth by the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, which include but are not limited to:

  • Requiring employees to stay home if they are sneezing, coughing, having difficulty breathing, or are running a fever.

  • Encouraging proper social distancing by keeping a distance of at least 6 feet when interacting with co-workers or customers.

  • Practicing proper hand washing, cleaning, and sanitizing procedures.

  • Requiring employees to stay home if they are not deemed necessary to conduct the minimum basic operations of our business.

As always, we are extremely grateful for your support of our family-owned business over the years, and we appreciate your cooperation as we work through the current COVID-19 crisis that is facing our nation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to email us at dwsalvage@dwsalvage.biz or give us a call at 989-269-6829.

In Good Health,

D&W Salvage, Inc.
