Closed July 16th Due to Wildfire Smoke

Once again Canada is experiencing wildfires, and with the wind coming out of the Northwest, Michigan is getting a little taste of what it's like to be in Canada right now.

Yes my friends, the smoke we are all seeing as it clouds out the sun, smelling as it burns our noses/throats, and feeling in our lungs is not just some weenie roast gone wrong--it's an entire country on fire. And the National Weather Service is telling us that if we think the amount of smoke we saw today was bad, just wait until tomorrow--it is slated to be 10x worse than it was today. Yuck!

While our crew managed to tough-it-out while they processed/sorted scrap outside in the smoke for 8 hours today, by the day's end they all had sore throats, headaches, and burning/watery eyes. We can't fathom having to do this all over again for a 2nd day in a row, (especially if the smoke is supposed to be even thicker/heavier tomorrow). Therefore we have made the decision to close D&W for a day while we wait for this smoke to clear.

This means that D&W Salvage, Inc. will be CLOSED:

Thursday, July 16th, 2026

We plan to resume normal business hours on Friday, July 17th, 2026 (provided the air clears as it is supposed to and it doesn't continue to get any worse).

We apologize for any inconvenience this temporary closure may cause, but we have to do what is best for the health and wellbeing of our employees. Unfortunately an atmospheric event like this is beyond our control, and something we hope we never have to deal with again anytime soon!
